I'm coming to the end of a busy streak. Tonight we're getting together with some friends, and then I'm "off" until this coming weekend. Here's a recap of the last few days: Thursday 6/26 - Saw the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and The Gufs play together at the lakefront. Left prior to the Big Bang fireworks, though Friday 6/27 - Movie night - "Wanted" at the IPIC at Bayshore (thumbs up, fun movie) Saturday 6/28 - Double Booking. The last Marcus Amphitheater act has been announced for Summerfest 2005 - (Not) Journey. Message to Steve Augeri: "I knew Steve Perry; Steve Perry was a friend of mine. You, sir, are no Steve Perry." If you've never seen it, keep an eye out for VH1's "Behind The Music" episode featuring Journey. Words cannot describe it. Perhaps "scrumtrulescent".
At the tail end of my morning reading this morning, I hopped over to the JS Online website. And there I found some very, very happy news. Weezer, Pixies to bring the rock to Big Gig Summerfest 2005's main stage line-up gets a much-needed injection of "the rawk" with the addition of a July 7 co-headlining bill featuring the Pixies and Weezer. Tickets go on sale Saturday morning. You can bet I'll be there. I just need to decide if I should bother with actually going to the box office after the last debacle, or just try online.
Summerfest started last week Thursday; Judy & I (w/ Maureen) went on Friday. The two of them had the afternoon off, so they got there closer to 3:00, and I joined them at around 5:30. It was a pretty typical summerfest - obnoxious drunk crowds, overpriced beer, yadda yadda yadda.
