Vacation Roundup
If you’d like to skip my blabbering and get right to the photos, here they are.
Well, we’re back. Sigh. OK, I had really planned on writing a detailed recap of our trip to Playa del Carmen. Really. But I ran into a few problems.
- It takes a long time to write a detailed recap of a 7-day vacation.
- The longer you wait to write a detailed recap, the more the details start to fade
So there you have it. instead, you get some highlights and random notes…
- We had a great time
- I got super sunburned - and just might have learned my lesson this time
- Cancun was just not for me
- “Una para Dos” was for me
- Playa del Carmen is beautiful, but the multitude of restaurants made making dining decisions difficult
- If a guy walks up to you with a camera and two sombreros, wave him off. Trust me
- Conversely, if you’re walking by a bar and hear two Mexicans playing guitar and singing U2, Radiohead, or The Beatles, stop and have a drink. Or four
- Xel-Ha = ton of fun
- Jackpot on both of hour hotels. The Omni in Cancun was on the quiet end of the strip, and the Luna Blue in Playa was a half block off Quinta
- Took a trip to see the ruins in Tulum, but the batteries on my camera died halfway through
- There is an inordinate number of Italian restaurants in Playa, and I have no idea why
- Our airline went bankrupt while we were away, but we got home without any problems
- Thanks to everyone in Mexico who allowed me to practice my 11th grade Spanish while I was there.
