Photos

I’ve been flip-flopping on how best to share photos online. I’ve been using Adobe Lightroom at home to import, tweak, and manage my photos. The only thing Lightroom is lacking is the ability to post directly to an online service. Initially, my plan was to use Flickr - in part because I have a nice Flash-based slideshow widget that I could use on this site. Then it turned out that the widget didn’t play all that well with Flickr, so I scrapped that and tried using the open source app Gallery. It’s nice, but a lot of work to set up and customize. Plus, I still had to export photos from Lightroom and upload to Gallery. I also have a license for Slideshow Pro Director, but found that the upload process wasn’t quite as smooth as I would like it to be.

I finally broke down and decided on Picassa. I had played around with it in the past, and wasn’t all that crazy about it. But, it worked nicely with the Google Photos service - one click upload! Since some of the other guys are using it, I decided to give it another shot. The one thing I don’t like is that the retouching tools on the desktop program are pretty limited, and the web interface is a beast.

As of this morning, I started uploading everything I’ve shot this summer:
