Drink Of The Week

This week's D.O.T.W is "3 Feet Deep Stout" by the Furthermore Brewery in Spring Green, WI. From their website: With a hint of peat smoked malt, this stout is a return to county cork and the warmth of the Irish hearth. I would say it's more than a hint - it's a lot like drinking a nice cold glass of dirt-flavoured beer. Which is a good thing. Much like my favourite scotch, Laphroaig, it's got an intense taste of smoky peat - which you're either going to love or hate. You can find 3 Feet Deep Stout on tap at the Comet Cafe on Farwell Avenue, along with several other Furthermore beers.

Click!

A little more than 3 years ago, I purchased my first digital camera - the Fujifilm s5000. A wonderful camera, styled like a digital-SLR model, it's packed full of features and options. It's also extendable - I have a couple of filters that I can attach when necessary. The problem is, I never use it. It's not hefty, but it does need to be in a bag. Add in the attachments, and it's not the kind of thing you just whip out and take a shot with. Also, Judy has no idea whatsoever how to use it. I had been planning on getting a new ...

Brace Yourselves

The Packers finished up OK last season, but they've got a tough, tough schedule ahead of them this year. Philadelphia Eagles @ New York Giants San Diego Chargers @ Minnesota Vikings Chicago Bears Washington Redskins @ Denver Broncos @ Kansas City Chiefs Minnesota Vikings Carolina Panthers @ Detroit Lions @ Dallas Cowboys Oakland Raiders @ St. Louis Rams @ Chicago Bears Detroit Lions I see them opening the season 0-3, then maybe 1-4 if they can win at Minnesota. Looks like a 6-10 schedule to me. But hey, at least we get Oakland at home!

S.O.B.!!! (UPDATED)

I bought a nice pair of shoes on eBay last week. They arrived over the weekend, and it turns out the color wasn't what I thought they would be. The seller had the exact same pair in a different color for sale, so I contacted him about an exchange. Initially, he wanted me to pay for shipping both ways AND an additional $10 "restocking" fee. I told him that was bullshit, and I wanted a refund. He agreed to do the exchange if I paid the shipping costs, which is all I wanted in the first place. I shipped them off via the Post Office yesterday. Today I logged onto eBay to get in touch with the guy and let him know ...

The Big Time

Those Eberhardy boys are at it again. Banker Of The Year, back-to-back Fantasy Football titles, and now this. Congratulations, Paul. Now I can finally get my crew together and pull off that big heist I've always wanted to. Is there anything worth stealing in Cudahy?

Impressive. Most impressive.

With the Final Four just finishing up, and everyone's attention turning to the Masters this weekend, something got left out of the headlines. At the '07 World Championships last week, Michael Phelps won 7 gold medals - setting 5 world records in the process. Would likely have been 8 golds, but the men's 4x100 medley relay was DQ'd for an early jump. 200 Individual Medley, 400 IM, 100 Fly, 200 Fly, 200 Free, and 2 relays (4x100 and 4x200 Free).  That's really amazing. That's a lot of swimming over a couple of days. You don't just swim each race once, you have to work your way through the prelims and get into the finals. Most swimmers specialize in one stroke, and race ...
