- I have a long standing pledge that the first person within earshot to refer to the first snowfall as “pretty”, or any variation thereof, shall receive a quick punch to the nose. Consider this your warning.
- I had no idea that there was a snowfall coming today. I avoid the local “news”, so when I woke up this morning and went to make some coffee, I was greeted by a windowsill full of snow. I think my first thought was: “fuck.”
- I take the bus to work in the morning. It’s cheap and convenient. This morning, I waited a bit longer than usual - completely understandable. After paying my fare and taking a seat, the bus began to pull away. Or tried to. Stuck in the snow, the driver tried rocking back and forth for a good 10 minutes. In that timespan, another 2 buses on the same route went past us. I eventually got off the bus, walked home, and got my car.
- Approximately 33% of the office is “working from home” today. Had I known that was an option, I might have taken the opportunity to “work from home”.

It took me over an hour to get to the office, which isn’t bad considering I could be in a ditch someplace. And on my way in I kept thinking, boy this is a mess, but at least it’s pretty!

The Grand Avenue mall closed at noon today. Of course, they did keep the parking garage attendants for the day. Everything was closed, but still full price to park.
Which leads me to: Suck it up, pussies! You live in Milwaukee, you’ve never seen snow before? Seriously.

Let me just say that I was in the full know of the “snow storm” and was quite excited! Ask Dan, I think I may have even jumped up and down on the bed when I woke up Friday morning to lots of “pretty” snow! Unfortunately, I think my daughter shares your sentiments. When she saw the snow, she said “yuck.”

This is practically a week late, but I’d like to chime in that I didn’t have to work at all on the Friday of Blizzard ought-6.
Also, because of my crazy night-working life, I was up all night when the blizzard started, developed a taste for over-easy eggs with hot sauce so I went out into the blizzard just before 6 a.m. and drove to Bay View Family Restaurant for some breakfast. I was able to drive 30 mph - the speed limit - on Kinnickinnic Avenue despite the massive snow already piling up.
It was a PRETTY special morning.
