My Friday afternoon doldrums were interrupted by a ruckus. (”What kind of a ruckus? Can you describe the ruckus?”) (Yes, I can). I was sitting at my desk, which is next to a window that overlooks a parking lot, which is next to a row of, how do you say, “run down houses”. First, I heard the sound of screeching tires, which is not that uncommon around here - quite a few accidents lately. The next thing I heard was a gruff voice screaming “Get down on ground!!!”
I ran to the window and saw about 6 men with guns drawn surrounding another guy, who did the smart thing and got down on the ground. I made my way to the balcony to get a better look, and saw 3 or 4 unmarked police cars blocking off the parking lot, 2 officers frisking a girl against the hood of her car. After the po-lice escorted the two into the back of their car, they proceeded to search the girl’s vehicle.
I’m no amateur sleuth, but I would have to guess it was a drug raid. There’s been a lot of activity at the house in question lately - mostly college age students (primarily girls) hanging around the back door, being let in, then leaving a few minutes later. This happened about 4, 5 times a day that I saw.
After everything calmed down, it turned into a patio party for the remaining 8 or 9 officers, who hung around and talked bullshit for the next hour and a half.
