The Mick hits 60

Phil Mickelson shot a 60 yesterday in the second round of an early season PGA tournament event. That’s a pretty good score. The second best ever in a PGA event, actually - one off the record of 59.

All that really means is that it’s OK for me to start getting excited about golf again this year. The Masters is right around the corner, and from what I’ve been told, I absolutely must get myself in front of a large HDTV screen to watch the final round.

For the 6th straight year, I’m very hopeful that this is the year I put it all together and start playing consistently well. I felt pretty good last summer, but was still prone to the more-than-occassional blowup. I also started to hit my driver and fairway wood with more confidence. I feel like I can hit all the shots I need to hit - now it’s just a matter of doing it consistently. And, with a more “flexible” schedule for this coming year, I should be able to get out a little more often.

Very exciting!

  1. Look, you’re denying yourself The Life of Leisure unless you’re watching Masters Saturday and Sunday on an HD screen. Outside of my bringing a 60″ HD set into your living room and jabbing your eyes open a la Clockwork Orange, there’s nothing more I can do to convince everyone about the importance of The Masters via HD.

If you slough it off again this year, it’s your own fault.

  2. I would subject myself to the Clockwork Orange treatment if someone were to bring a 60″ HDTV into my living room. Gladly.
