The Phantom Of The Aviator

It's Oscar season, and Judy is on her annual "let's see all the movies nominated for best picture" kick, which I'm usually more than happy to tag along for. Friday night, she saw Million Dollar Baby at the Oriental; Saturday, we made plans to see The Aviator at Mayfair. We had a bit of shopping to do, so we arranged to meet some friends outside the theatre before showtime (4:00). We were a little early, so we bought tickets, and waited for a few minutes. It was decided that maybe one of us should go and grab 4 good seats, and the other would wait for Maureen & Christopher. I volunteered to hold the seats. ...

This Week In Poker

It was a quiet week in the poker world. I've been busy with actual work, so my time at the virtual tables has been limited. I had planned on getting a tournament in over last weekend, but (1) was hung over from Friday night's dinner outing at Heaven City, and (2) had to prepare for a cheese & wine cocktail party we were having on Saturday night. However, I did manage to find a little time last night to play online. The site that I've been playing through offers many different types of play. There's straight money play at different limits - all the way from a dime up to no-limit. There's multi-table tournament play, with entries ranging from $3 up ...

I don’t have a problem

In what may be the worst development ever, I've discovered the world of online gambling. Now, those that know me are aware that I have a gambling "issue" - it's not a problem, it's just an issue. I enjoy laying a wager down. It's most likely genetic - both my parents also enjoy gaming. Last Saturday afternoon, it was relatively miserable outside, and Judy & I had no plans for the day. I had already cleaned the place, so I really had nothing to do. Judy was doing some reading, so I jumped on the computer. Now, the night prior to this I was at a little poker-playing shindig. I didn't do so well - first man out. No big deal, I had ...

Comment Spam

I woke up this morning (bright and early at 8:20 AM) and checked my e-mail. I found that I had received almost 30 new comments on my weblog! Boy was I excited - I thought that I had finally hit the big time. Alas, I had been targeted by a spamBot, and all of the comments were psuedo-ads for online poker sites. Not that I don't have an interest in the subject, but they were spam nonetheless. Luckily for me, MT-Blacklist picked up each and every one of the submissions, and put them into a holding tank until I could check it out. From there, it was a couple of clicks, and they were gone forever - poof! Dan wrote about ...

I think I might.

I just followed a link to Yahoo from Slashdot. Apparently, Hasbro - makers of quality toys since 19whatever - will be extending their popular "Mr. Potato Head" line of dress-up figures with Darth Tater. Available in stores everywhere, February 2005. Although, I have one question: what's with the eyeballs?

Marquette

Judy & I went to the Marquette Warriors Golden Eagles game last night. Her nephew Matt got a stack of free tickets from his basketball team, so we went with him, his dad, and one of Matt's friends. I spent most of the night commenting to Judy on how shitty of a player Todd Townsend is. Cracks like "Townsend is playing the game of his life - a career high 6 points!". Also, for most of the game, MU was getting blown out of Southern Florida. Well, Marquette stormed back at the end of the game, and Townsend hit the game-winning shot with about 6 seconds left on the clock. A good time was had by all. As a bonus, ...

Medieval Times

As pointed out by Dan and Chuck, we all had a wonderful evening at Medeival Times last weekend. And honestly, I sat down and began to write a recap of the even on Sunday morning. However, I had like 9 tabs open in Firefox, and closed the wrong one, losing about 20 minutes worth of work in the process. Believe me when I say it was good, and let's leave it at that. To make up for it, I've finally posted the photos I took while we were there.

You Are Everybody!

About 10 minutes into last night's episode of "Alias", Sydney (Jennifer Ganer) was having a birthday bash at her place, and needed to stop out onto the patio to talk with her SpyDaddy Jack. Someone opened the door to interrupt, and in the background you can clearly hear the song "You Are Everybody", by Driveshaft playing. Driveshaft is a fictitious band from the TV series "Lost". Charlie, one of the castaways, used to be in a hugely popular british rock band fronted by two brothers who didn't quite get along. Yeah, Charlie was in Oasis. Except not Oasis, Driveshaft. The connection between the shows is that the creator/producer of both is JJ Abrams. Another connection is that the pilot of the downed ...

Happiness Is…

I was having a bit of trouble waking up yesterday morning, so I sat in bed and turned on the Today Show while Judy was getting herself ready for work. Katie Couric put on her Smart Glasses and talked to an editor from Time magazine about their latest issue, the topic of which was "what makes you happy". Since I was in a bit of a stupor (lack of sleep), I didn't give it much thought. Fast-forward to about thirty minutes ago, and I'm on the road back from Brookfield. I've got my iPod humming along, and "Separate Ways" by Journey is queued up. What a great song. Instantly puts me in a good mood. So that got me thinking, what ...

Die modog7475!!!!

It's been a good new year so far. However, I just logged into my eBay account to see how an item I'm selling was doing, and saw that my feedback rating had dropped 1 point. How could that be? (Who don't like Bryan?) Almost 4 weeks ago, I posted an item for sale by auction on eBay - a TV tuner card I wasn't using as much as I thought I was. It was a 7-day auction, and ended with a high bid of something like $25. I sent the buyer an "invoice" through the eBay system, and waited. And waited. And waited. After a full week and 4 different e-mails to the buyer, I gave up and filed ...
