Apple just announced the next generation model of the iPod. As had been speculated, the new version has a color screen, and adds the ability to store and view photos. There’s a new cable that will allow you to connect it to your TV set and run a slideshow. Cool, I guess… There was speculation that there would be a version of iPhoto released for Windows, and that application would be how photos would be transferred to the iPod. Instead, they released an upgraded version of iTunes that does the same thing.
With the addition of photos, the iPod now transfers over album cover art via iTunes, which is actually kind of cool. Unfortunately, the 40GB model is $499, and the 60GB is $599. I think I’ll hang onto my 5GB model for a little while longer…
There’s also a Special “U2″ Edition iPod available. It’s black, with a red scroll wheel. The news on this one broke a while ago, but the official announcment was today. Again, it was speculated that this one would come pre-filled with the entire U2 library. Instead, you get a $50 off coupon for “The Complete U2″ from the iTunes Music Store.

Apple signs up U2, no way! like so not un-cool!! Those hippies at Apple really have their ears to the ground when it comes to the modern youth culture. Are the rumours about an insipid, puke green version of the ipod featuring all the hit parade songs of Genesis at all true? Whoah like some free tickets to that concert would be so cool! meet some virtual babes so far out hippy type dudes!!
