Pick & Save: Metro Market

I just got back from a lunchtime trip over to the grand opening of the Pick & Save Metro Market. First, let me say this: they have Karotka. I was sort of expecting the store to retain the layout from the old Kohl's. It didn't - it's completely different. The main entrance to the store opens into the produce department, and it's a little cramped. I expect to see bottlenecks there when it gets busy. Past the produce is the deli and bakery. Nothing to get too excited about. Around the corner is the meat department. In a word - awsome. It's easily the finest meat and seafood department I've ever seen in a grocery store. Puts V. I was just reading an article at Slate about the new Skippy's peanut butter ads, featuring rastafarian elephants. I read it only because (1) I hate peanut butter, and (2) I hate that commercial. Apparently, so does the author (on #2). Halfway through the article, though, the author mentioned the Quiznos ad from last year - the singing rodents. You know: "We love the subs! 'Cuz they are good to us. The Quiznos subs..." ...

Women We Love

As those who know me, uh... know, I'm a subscriber and big fan of Esquire magazine. Historically, I have taken the night or two following the arrival of the latest issue in my mailbox as "magazine night[s]", whereupon I sit myself in bed and read for a few hours. Late last week, I received the September issue. In it, among other things, was a small ad directing me to go to the website and participate in the "The Women You Love Survey".
