The newest addition to The List was made this morning - The Knick. I hereby submit that I will *never* again eat at this restaurant.
Judy & I went for brunch this morning. The weather was a little iffy - it looked as if it would rain any minute. Keeping that in mind, we decided to get a table inside, rather than out on the patio. Since it was 11:00 on a Sunday, and it was the 4th, I really wasn’t all that surprised when the hostess told us it would be 20 minutes for a table. So, we wandered over to the bar, grabbed a seat, and got a few drinks.
About 15 minutes later, the skies turned a bit darker, and then it started to rain. Hard. Most of the outside tables were uncovered, so those people made their way to the front door. And then we saw them being escorted to tables. They were giving away our table!
I got pretty steamed, and went to ask the hostess when our table would be ready. She explained that the people who were outside needed a place to sit, and that it would probably be another 20 minutes before we were seated. I explained that that was “not right”, and went to tell Judy. She didn’t like it either, but saw it coming.
So, we ended up eating at the bar. Service was horrible - the bartenders just weren’t prepared to serve a whole bar full of diners. People were smoking next to me. It took forever to get our food. They forgot my toast. We couldn’t get refills on our coffee. They added extra items to our bill.
In short, a horrible brunch. And I like a good brunch. So, welcome to The List, Knick!
Jerks.

Worst bunch ever, The Knick or Cafe Vecchio Mondo?

Oooh! That’s a tough call. Cafe Vecchio Mondo was pretty awful, and they lost points for declaring themselves “Best Brunch In Milwaukee” without asking me first.
I’d have to say that Vecchio scored lower overall, but I’m much more bitter about the service at the Knick. (Specifically, that little c*** in the green shirt who gave my table to some dummy who was barely smart enough to come in out of the rain.)
