I played a round on Friday afternoon at Willow Run golf course, out in Waukesha. Lots of trees, lots of water in play. It was a fairly tough course. I haven’t played much this year, other than a few after-work rounds at Warnimont with Andy. It really showed. I played much better on the back 9 - improving my score by 10 strokes - but still didn’t play all that well. I’m hitting the ball much better, and I think I’ve worked out one problem with my swing (and found 3 or 4 new ones). I’m anxious to get out there again.

I’ve been doing some bargain unting on eBay, and found a new driver on the cheap. I was at a driving range recently, and was taking a few swings with my $25 Target special from a few years ago. The last swing I took, the head removed itself from the shaft, just as I was making contact with the ball. So, I was in need of a new one, even though I couldn’t hit the old one.

I also made a trip to SportMart a few weekends ago, looking for that new driver. I didn’t see anything I liked in a wood, but I did find a putter I liked. [note: if anyone is in the market for a used Odyssey putter, let me know]. I’m very happy with the putter - it’s h-e-a-v-y. I like that. I made 2 putts from the fringe on Friday - 14/15 footers.

Judy & I also made a trip over to Zablocki park on Sunday. I was having a lot of trouble hitting straight; these weren’t even slices, they were just going straight to the right. I worked it out at the end - par on 7, birdie on 8. Judy’s getting better, but I don’t feel right giving her tips when I can barely hit it myself.

Hopefully the weather holds out this week, and I’ll get out and play another 9 after work. Depending on sunset, I might even be able to swing an after-work 9 at Grant park.
