“All I want for christmas is [a kick-ass digital camera]..”
I was able to stockpile a cache of Best Buy gift cards and cash them in for a digital camera. I’m very excited about it. It’s a Fujifilm s5000. Very nice…
On the downside, I got screwed by Best Buy. They’ve made my list. Again.
I researched cameras for a few days before going out to the store, and knew what I wanted to get - I just wanted to kick it around before buying it. I did let the salesperson talk me into the “extended warranty” plan, but I have a plan of my own for that…
Anyways, I got home with my new purchase, and jumped online to check something out. I saw that Best Buy had the exact same camera available online for $50 cheaper, with free shipping. Bastards! I called the store to find out how to get a price adjustment, and I was told that I couldn’t, because they won’t match online pricing. I explained that it wasn’t a matter of matching a price, it was something they were advertising at that price. He wouldn’t budge, I called him a jackass and hung up. Unfortunately, I had already opened the thing, so they’d stick me with a 15% re-stocking fee (Bastards!), which is more than what I would save by buying it online.
About my plan… I bought the 4-year extended warranty, which covers everything except dropping the damn thing. So, on December 1st, 2007, I’ll either take an x-acto blade and scape off the memory card slot contacts, or stick a live wire and fry the thing. Then I’ll return it for something of “comparable value”, which will likely be a 14-megapixel camera with full 3-D rendering by that time.
HA HA HA HA HA HA…
