At the tail end of my morning reading this morning, I hopped over to the JS Online website. And there I found some very, very happy news. Weezer, Pixies to bring the rock to Big Gig Summerfest 2005's main stage line-up gets a much-needed injection of "the rawk" with the addition of a July 7 co-headlining bill featuring the Pixies and Weezer. Tickets go on sale Saturday morning. You can bet I'll be there. I just need to decide if I should bother with actually going to the box office after the last debacle, or just try online.
Chuck, Rajan and I went to see the Pixies show at the Milwaukee Theatre last night. I think Chuck summed it up pretty well after the show: workmanlike. The Pixies came to town to kick your ass. Mission accomplished. I lost track of the song count, but they dug deeper into the catalog than I had hoped/expected. I'd guestimate that they played 2 songs from "Come On Pilgrim", 4 from "Surfer Rosa", probably another 10 from "Doolittle", and one from "Bossanova" - leaving us with nothing from "Trompe Le Monde". So, I was a little disapointed not to hear something like "Motorway to Roswell" or "Bird Dream of the Olympus Mons". They also ...
