An e-mail conversation with a guy selling a car for $8,000 under blue book value

An e-mail conversation with a guy selling a car for $8,000 under blue book value
"Steven": My 09 Volkswagen Tiguan SEL is still for sale. I will sell it for $16,000. I'm the 4th owner. There is no lien on the vehicle. I have the clean and clear title ready for transfer. The car has 25,000 miles and is in excellent condition, no accidents, no scratches, no dents, no issues of any kind. It has always been garage kept, non-smoker, no pets and still smells like new. The car needs nothing. I'm selling the vehicle because I need to pay off my house and I need the money fast. I will send you more pictures and the carfax report in my next message. Let me know if you have other questions.
Me: Thanks for getting back to me! The car looks to be in great shape. Is there any time you're available for me to take a look at it? Also, would you be OK with me having my mechanic take a look?
"Steven": The car is in Colorado. If you want to see it I can send it to your place for inspection for no extra cost. Someone owes me a favor and he will pay the shipping charges. You will receive it in 3 days and you will have 5 days to test drive and inspect it to decide if you want to buy it or not. I will like to use a third party to make this transaction so you don't have to send me any money before you see and inspect the car. Let me know if you are still interested.
Me: What exactly do you mean by 3rd party? I guess I thought you were local to Milwaukee. Is there any way you can give me a call? The number you had listed is out of service.
"Steven": I'm sorry but I'm deaf, so I very strongly prefer email over a phone call.
I will like to use Ebay as a third party. Basically Ebay will hold a refundable deposit until you inspect and decide to buy and keep the vehicle. After Ebay will secure your funds the car will be on your way. You will have 5 days to inspect the vehicle from the day you receive it. If you like the car and want to buy it then you will send the remaining balance and Ebay will send your funds to me. If you don't want to buy the vehicle then Ebay will send your funds back and I will take care of the car and you will have no obligation, I will find other buyer in your area. If you want to proceed send me your full name and address so I can set up a transaction with Ebay and you will receive their terms so you can see how it works.
Me: How about I just send you an envelope full of cash, via fedex?
"Steven": There is no warranty for that.
Me: OK, just send me your ebay username then and I'll get you the deposit.
Me: Actually, this will be faster; here is my bank account number - 9876A569037J99912ZXQWTIOP9992
"Steven": I think you are idiot. I am selling the car and you have to pay not the other way. Bye
Me: I changed my mind. Here is my address - 1060 West Addison Street, Chicago, IL 60613. Please send instructions for "Ebay".

Somebody somewhere said to somebody else (probably over many beers), “You know what? We could put some dirt in a bag and sell it!” When the other guy asked who in their right minds would pay money for something they could walk outside and get just about anywhere, he replied “City folk!”

Some time later, it was decided that by stamping “organic” on the bag, they could charge double.

re@import bookmarklet »

The ReCSS bookmarket is hands-down my favourite, most-used tool outside of a code editor. Being able to quickly reload just the stylesheets on a page of HTML to see what I’ve just done is a great timesaver. Unfortunately, Drupal 7 insists on using a style tag with multiple @import commands, and those aren’t targeted by the ReCSS bookmarklet. And I just so happen to be working on D7 project right now.

So I wrote a quick command using Ben Alman’s jQuery Bookmarket Generator that does update the @import’d files. Problem solved.
