Back From Vegas

Judy and returned from a few days in Vegas on Thursday. I was my 6th trip out there, and it was just as fun as the first time. Once again, we stayed at my parent's place, Polo Towers. It's situated right off the strip, behind a little shopping mall and across the street from Planet Hollywood, which was the Alladdin the last time we were out there. The pool at the condo is a bit on the smallish side, so we splurged on a one-night stay at Mandalay Bay. They've got a couple of great pools and a lazy river - well worth it. The rooms there ...

A Tale Of Two Cities

Last year I wrote a short post titled The Beauty Of Open Source, where I talked about a jQuery, a Javascript project I've been involved with. The vast majority of developer in the jQuery community are friendly, helpful, and just good people. And then there's these guys. I've worked exclusively in PHP for the last two years, although my experience goes back farther than that. And about a year ago, I investigated several "frameworks" that had the potential to speed up my development process. Breaking News

When Sol Fire closed over the winter, I was shocked and disappointed. Since then, a question frequently asked of me is "So what's going to open in that location?" I still don't have an answer to that, but I can say that *something* is going on. I've been keeping an eye out the window over the restaurant, and there's been a flurry of activity lately. Early last week, I observed two businessmen in the parking lot talking and gesturing at the building. Late last week, we saw two more men taking measurements of the back lot, and also noticed that a garbage dumpster had been placed at the back door.
