The Cowboy rides off into the sunset

I just saw that the Bucks traded Desmond Mason to Hornets for Jamaal Magloire. I hate this move. Mason has been my Favourite Buck since they shipped Ray-Ray out of town a few years ago. Aside from being a pretty damn good player, he was also a great guy. Last year, he had a gallery showing of his artwork. He also warmed up to the city quickly after being traded here. I know Magloire is a big body, and we had a few too many small fowrards on the team, but I really thought this was going to be Desmond's breakout year. Word on the street ...

Reason #64: Koppas Fulbeli Deli

Reason #64 that the East Side of Milwaukee is the True Center Of Power -- Koppas Fulbeli Deli (1940 North Farwell Avenue). They've recently started to offer free play time on a vinatage Atari 2600 for their shoppers. That's right, while you're waiting for your Oogle Nogle or Stralkowski sandwich, you can enjoy a game of Pac Man, Missle Command, Bowling, or whatever else is laying around. There are 2 chairs set in front of a coffee table, which is beneath an old-school 20-inch color tv. Beat that, 'tosa.

IN GIRUM IMUS NOCTE ET CONSUMIMUR IGNI

I posted last week about some links to various Lost websites. One of them was to "The Hanso Foundation" website. Just to get you up to speed... in an episode of Lost a few weeks ago (titled "Orientation"), it was revealed that "The Hatch" was the entrance into a bunker, which was built and staffed by Dharma Industries. Dharma is a project of The Hanso Foundation. I just found a hidden link on the Hanso Foundation website to the orientation film that was shown in that episode. The first hidden tidbit I've been pointed to is that if you try to access the Hanso Foundation "Secure" website (https instead of http), you get a page that reads "bigspaceship1.com". ...

Zing!

This one is for my "peeps" (web dev & UI geeks): Excuse me Jakob, but you're so full of shit it's coming out your ears. Nielsen has been talking shit for years. Not everything that he writes is bullshit - there's some good principles behind some of what he pitches - but all in all, he takes things too far. It's always fun to see someone put him in his place, especially when there's concrete evidence to support the argument against.

Jessica Biel? Really?

For the last 6 months, Esquire Magazine has been building up to their annual "Women We Love" issue by gradually revealing their "Sexiest Woman Alive". I received my issue in the mail today, and boy am I disappointed. When I say that they were "gradually revealing", I mean that literally. Each issue has featured a 2-page foldout photo of a woman's feet, legs, torso, chest, etc... If one were to cut them out, you could probably make youself an almost-lifesize girl. In addition to the photos, each month a few bits of trivia about the so-called "Sexiest Woman Alive" were revealed: * She shares her birthday with the inventor of a brilliant scheme. * She is not Sarah Michelle Gellar, but they have ...

“Put me in coach”

This might be the funnies thing I've read in a long, long time. And it's about my favourite subject -- me.

Google Maps Updated

Google Maps was quietly updated recently. A couple of small revisions made it even *more* user-friendly. First off, the columns have been flip-flopped - the map "pane" is on the right, and instructions/directions are on the left. Makes perfect sense to me. Also, when you look up driving directions, and those directions would require you to scroll down to view... the scroll is contained in the left-hand "pane", with your map still in view. Makes perfect sense to me, again. Finally, when you access any address you have the option of setting that location as your "starting point". The next time you load up the home page, your starting point will be loaded up.

A History Of Violence

Judy and I went to see "A History of Violence" this weekend as part of the ceremonial "returning of the gifts" (No, we didn't return *your* gift - we loved it. These were other people's gifts.) Anyway, the movie is about a small-town family man, Tom (Viggo Mortensen), who owns a diner. One day two very, very bad men stop in for a cup of coffee and all the money in the register. When the bad men take things a little to far, Tom springs into action and takes them out. Hard core. After the national media picks up the story, Tom is confronted by more bad men who think that Tom the hero is their old pal Joey the ...
