Judy and I caught a Saturday afternoon matinee of “Mr. & Mrs. Smith”. I hear that there’s a lot of hoo-hah and hub-bub about the movie that has nothing to do with the movie. I don’t concern myself with hoo-hah and hub-bub, so I can’t offer an opinion on that. The movie itself was a lot of fun.
The basic premise is this: Brad Pitt is married to Angelina Jolie, both of whom are secretly assasins for competing agencies. On one job, they’re coincidentally assigned to rub out the same person, and hilarity/mayhem ensues. The bickering between the two is fantastic, and Vince Vaughn is also very good as Pitt’s “manager”. There’s one terrific fight scene between the two - Mrs. Smith has been knocked to the ground (out of view behind a couch), and you see Mr. Smith standing over her and giving her the ol’ kicks-to-the-ribs business.
The only problem we had at all with the movie was…
that the ending just sort of happened. There was no real resolution, it just… ended. Apparently, if you kill enough of the grunts who were sent out to kill you, the people who sent them decide they don’t need to kill you anymore, and you can live happily ever after.
That aside, it was a great fun, summer movie.
Also, Angelina Jolie is purty.
