I think that a common assumption regarding vacations is that they are supposed to make you feel relaxed, and rejuvinated when you return. “I’m back from vacation, the batteries are charged, and I’m ready to dive into work!”.
I could not disagree more. Since I’ve entered the professional workforce, every vacation I’ve taken has made me feel the opposite. I come back to the office, and ask myself, “What the hell am I doing here?” A vacation doesn’t recharge me, it makes me realize that I don’t need to work as hard as I do. Of course. the alternative is to *not* take a vacation, which really isn’t an alternative.
