Mr. Risk?

Mr. Risk XI was played this weekend. At this point, it’s become a farce - Chuck and Les just trade the tropy off between the two of them every couple of times. Once and a while, just to keep the rest of us interested, they’ll let someone else win.

I thought I had a chance at a win after my first two turns - I drew Wild Cards each time. Recalling the last two games, I resolved to save the cards for the end of the game - when the turn-ins get up to 30 or 40 armies. That strategy cost me in the end… I got greedy, I guess, and passed on an opportunity to cash in, waiting for the pot to get bigger. That left me with 4 cards and a rampaging horde on the board, which left me as a prime target for someone to try and take me out.

The Chuck pulled a bait-and-switch on me. Jimmy pushed at him in the Siam from the northwest, and Chuck moved up to confront him. I thought there was an opening for me to slide into Australia from behind (via Kamchatka/Japan/Mongolia), but didn’t move quickly enough, and then I was stuck there. It’s hereby been dubbed “The Rozewicz Defense”.

When it was all said and done, the reigning Mr Risk walked away with the Title, the Trophy, the E-mail address, 2 tire gauges, some fake chewed gum, and a subway sub card.

Risk - a great game to play, a shitty game to watch.
