The Fourth Annual Festivus Dinner & Reception was held on Friday, January 9th at Buca di Beppo in Milwaukee, WI. This year’s attendees included, well, most of the people who were at the Third Annual Festivus Dinner & Reception.
[Technically, it's not "Annual" anymore, because there wasn't a Festivus in the 2003 calendar year. The last one was held in December 2002. But let's not split hairs...]
The Airing of Grievances was, as always, the highlight of the evening. My post-Grievances-grievance is that the Spirit of Festivus is, in the words of the honorable Francis Costanza, “This is the part of the holiday where you tell your family and friends all the ways they have disappointed you during the year. “. Our local Grievance Airings have become an opportunity for people to express what ticks them off, or don’t like. As a Festivus traditionalist, I believe that any grievances should be directed personally at someone at the table.
But that’s just me.
There were no feats of strength this year. A push-ups contest had been suggested in place of our traditional arm-wrestling tournament. Sadly, neither materialized.
